After the fall of the Wall Berlin became the largest building site in Europe. The Reichstag received a glass dome and the Jewish Museum a new form for memory.

Norman Foster rebuilt the Reichstag for the Bundestag, opened in 1999, with a dome that visitors can climb. Daniel Libeskind’s Jewish Museum, a zigzag building clad in zinc with voids running through it, was completed in 1999.

Herzog & de Meuron’s Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, opened in 2017, is a glass concert hall on top of an old harbour warehouse.
