Nordic Classicism

As in Sweden, Danish, Norwegian and Finnish architects simplified classicism in the 1910s and 20s.

Carl Petersen’s Faaborg Museum, opened in 1915, has rooms in strong colours on ancient models. The Police Headquarters in Copenhagen, designed by Hack Kampmann and completed in 1924, is a closed fortress with a round courtyard. The young Alvar Aalto designed the Workers’ Club in Jyväskylä in the same spirit, before he became a modernist.
