The city
The city is humanity's own landscape, built of streets, squares and houses. We follow the cityscape from the frescoes of Siena and the ideal cities of the Renaissance, through Vermeer's Delft and Canaletto's Venice, to the Impressionists' Paris, a Chinese festival day in Kaifeng, Stockholm beneath a celestial sign, and the neon and street art of the modern metropolis.
