Gardens and parks
The garden is nature arranged according to human dreams, and in art it has often stood for paradise. We follow it from Livia’s painted garden room and the enclosed garden of the Middle Ages, through Renaissance villas, Versailles and Fragonard’s swing, to Monet’s Giverny, Liebermann’s Wannsee and the Japanese gardens of woodblock prints.
