ABU

AB Urfabriken in Svängsta, which went from clocks to fishing reels such as the Ambassadeur and Cardinal.

AB Urfabriken was founded in Svängsta in Blekinge and made clocks and taximeters. Its skill with small, precise mechanisms was soon applied to fishing reels.

The Ambassadeur reel of 1952 became a worldwide success among anglers and was made in Svängsta for decades. The brand is now part of an American fishing-tackle group.

The ABU name and serial numbers on the reel’s foot giving the year of manufacture.
