Alfa Romeo
Founded in Milan as A.L.F.A.; Nicola Romeo took over in 1915. Known for sporting cars such as the Giulietta and Spider.
A.L.F.A. – Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili – was founded in Milan, and after the engineer Nicola Romeo took over the name became Alfa Romeo. Between the wars the marque's racing cars won major races, and Enzo Ferrari ran its racing team for a time.
After the Second World War Alfa Romeo moved to series production of sporting saloons and coupés. Coachbuilders such as Bertone, Pininfarina and Zagato designed many of the models, and the Giulietta Sprint and the Spider Duetto became Italian post-war classics.
