Bang & Olufsen
Danish audio and video company in Struer; Jacob Jensen’s Beogram 4000 turntable (1972) and flat, brushed-aluminium forms made the brand famous.
Peter Bang and Svend Olufsen started the company on Olufsen's family estate at Quistrup near Struer, making radios. The brand was early known for placing great weight on design.
From the 1960s Jacob Jensen and later David Lewis developed a design in which the technology was hidden behind smooth surfaces of aluminium, wood and glass. The Beogram 4000 with its tangential tone arm and the BeoSound 9000 with six CDs behind glass became symbols of Danish technology design.
Beo names for the models; brushed aluminium and discreet controls.
