Bottega Veneta
Leather-goods house in Vicenza, known for woven leather, intrecciato, and bags without a logo.
Michele Taddei and Renzo Zengiaro founded Bottega Veneta in Vicenza. The craftsmen developed intrecciato, a technique in which narrow strips of leather are woven together, giving the bags strength and suppleness.
The brand became known for its discretion, summed up in an early advertising line saying that one's own initials are enough. It has been part of Kering since 2001, and the Cabat bag of 2001 is woven entirely by hand.
