Brompton

London maker of the Brompton folding bicycle.

Andrew Ritchie designed a folding bicycle in his flat in London in the mid-1970s. He wanted it to fold quickly and become small enough to take on trains and buses.

The bicycle has kept much the same design ever since, with small wheels and a frame that folds in the middle. Bromptons are still built by hand in London.
