Burgon & Ball

Sheffield forge that has made sheep shears and garden tools since the 18th century.

Burgon & Ball dates its beginnings to a forge in Sheffield, and in the 19th century two firms merged under the present name. Sheffield was England's centre for steel and cutlery, and sheep shears became the firm's speciality.

The shears were exported to sheep farms all over the world. Later the firm became known for garden tools in steel and wood, often made in collaboration with British horticultural organisations.
