Burton
Jake Burton Carpenter’s snowboard company in Vermont, one of the sport’s pioneers.
Jake Burton Carpenter began making snowboards in a barn in Vermont. He wanted to turn the Snurfer, a toy board ridden standing up in the snow, into a sport.
Burton campaigned for ski resorts to admit snowboarders, and snowboarding became an Olympic sport in 1998. The company is still in Vermont.
The Burton name on the base of the board.
