Conway Stewart

British maker of fountain pens, known for marbled colours and affordable pens between the wars.

Frank Jarvis and Thomas Garner founded the company in London and took the name from two popular music-hall performers. From the 1920s to the 1950s Conway Stewart made large numbers of celluloid pens in strong, patterned colours.

The pens were sold to ordinary buyers and became part of British school life. The company closed in 1975, but the name has since been used for new pens in the same style.

The name Conway Stewart and the model number stamped on the barrel.

Marbled celluloid, often with a lever filler on the side.
