Daum
Glassworks in Nancy which under the brothers Auguste and Antonin Daum made Art Nouveau vases and lamps in cased glass and pâte de verre.
Jean Daum took over a glassworks in Nancy after the Franco-Prussian War, and his sons Auguste and Antonin turned it into an art-glass workshop. Inspired by Émile Gallé, they developed cased glass with etched plants and landscapes.
In the Art Deco period Daum moved to thick, acid-etched glass in clear forms. After the Second World War crystal sculptures were made, and pâte de verre was taken up again from the 1960s.
A signature in the glass, often ‘Daum Nancy’ with the Cross of Lorraine.
