Farrow & Ball

British maker of paint and wallpaper, known for muted colours with names of their own and wallpapers printed with paint.

John Farrow and Richard Ball started the company in Dorset after the Second World War and made paints to traditional recipes. In the 1990s the company became known among decorators for its historic colours.

The wallpapers are printed with the same paint as the wall paint, giving a matt surface with slight relief. The colours are often named after places and objects, and the firm still manufactures in Dorset.
