Ford

Henry Ford’s company in Detroit; the Model T (1908) and the assembly line (1913) made the car a mass product.

Henry Ford had built cars for several years before founding the Ford Motor Company. The Model T came in 1908, and with the moving assembly line it became so cheap that the factory's own workers could buy one.

After the Model T, Ford made cars in several price ranges, and the Mustang of 1964 created a new kind of car. The GT40 racing car won the 24-hour race at Le Mans four years running from 1966.
