Guldsmedsaktiebolaget (GAB)

Sweden’s largest silver manufacturer in the 20th century, in Stockholm and later Eskilstuna. Jacob Ängman designed functionalist silver for the company.

Guldsmedsaktiebolaget was formed in Stockholm and grew by buying up other workshops. The company made everything from cutlery and services to church silver and prizes.

Jacob Ängman was artistic director and designed silver in an austere, functionalist style. GAB later became part of larger groups, and production moved to Eskilstuna.

GAB in a shield or frame, with Swedish hallmarks and date letter; nickel silver marked GAB and NS.
