Givenchy

Hubert de Givenchy’s house; he dressed Audrey Hepburn, including the black dress in Breakfast at Tiffany’s (1961).

Hubert de Givenchy worked for Jacques Fath, Robert Piguet, Lucien Lelong and Elsa Schiaparelli before opening his own house in Paris. His first collection showed separates that could be combined.

He was a close friend and disciple of Cristóbal Balenciaga and developed a clean, elegant style. The house has been part of LVMH since 1988 and has had a series of creative directors.
