Habitat

Terence Conran’s shop in London selling modern furnishings and kitchenware to a young public.

Terence Conran opened the first shop on Fulham Road in London in 1964, selling furniture, lamps and kitchenware he had chosen himself. The goods were modern and affordable and displayed in furnished rooms.

Habitat was important in bringing Scandinavian and Italian modern design to a wide public. The chain spread to several countries and has changed owners several times.
