Luxo
Norwegian maker of task lamps with a spring-balanced arm, known for the L-1.
Jacob Jacobsen was a Norwegian textile manufacturer who bought the Scandinavian rights to the British Anglepoise lamp. He improved the design and launched the Luxo L-1 in 1937.
The L-1 became one of the best-selling task lamps in the world and was used in offices, workshops and hospitals. Pixar's animated lamp in the 1986 film Luxo Jr. was based on it.
