Luxottica
Founded in Agordo in the Dolomites by Leonardo Del Vecchio; today the world’s largest eyewear group, owning Ray-Ban, Persol and Oliver Peoples.
Leonardo Del Vecchio started a workshop in Agordo in the Dolomites making parts for spectacles. The company moved on to complete frames and became the world's largest eyewear maker.
Luxottica bought Ray-Ban in 1999, as well as Persol and Oakley, and makes eyewear for many fashion houses under licence. In 2018 it merged with Essilor to form EssilorLuxottica.
