German family-owned maker of household appliances in Gütersloh, known for washing machines and vacuum cleaners built to last.
Carl Miele and Reinhard Zinkann began by making milk separators in Herzebrock and then wooden washing machines. The company moved to Gütersloh and for a time also made bicycles and motorcycles.
Miele has been owned by the Miele and Zinkann families since its founding and is known for testing its machines for long life. The motto Immer besser, forever better, has been there from the start.
