Olivetti

Camillo Olivetti’s typewriter factory in Ivrea; under Adriano Olivetti a model of design, architecture and advertising with Nizzoli and Sottsass.

Camillo Olivetti founded Italy's first typewriter factory in Ivrea. His son Adriano Olivetti made the company a model of design, architecture and social reform, with housing, libraries and nurseries for the employees.

Marcello Nizzoli designed the Lettera 22, and Ettore Sottsass the red Valentine typewriter. Mario Bellini designed calculators and office machines, and the Programma 101 of 1965 is reckoned an early personal computer.
