Sam Farber’s company; the Good Grips utensils with thick, soft handles were made to be easy for everyone to use, including people with sore hands.

Sam Farber founded OXO after seeing how his wife, who had arthritis, struggled to use kitchen utensils. Smart Design in New York designed the first utensils.

The Good Grips utensils of 1990 had thick, soft handles that were easy to grip. They became an example of inclusive design and were shown in museums.
