Pelikan

Paint and ink factory in Hanover that began making piston-filling fountain pens in 1929; the pelican was registered as a trademark in 1878.

Carl Hornemann founded a paint factory in Hanover, and Günther Wagner took over and made the pelican the trademark. The firm made artists' colours, ink and school supplies.

The first fountain pen with a piston filler came in 1929, and the Pelikan 400 of 1950 and the Souverän became classics. Pelikan still manufactures in Germany.
