Prada
Leather goods shop in Milan that became a fashion house under Miuccia Prada; the black nylon backpack (1984) was her breakthrough.
Mario and Martino Prada opened a shop for leather goods and luggage in the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II in Milan and became purveyors to the royal household. Mario Prada's granddaughter Miuccia took over in 1978.
Miuccia Prada used industrial nylon for bags and backpacks and turned the unexpected into luxury. She started the Miu Miu line in 1993, and Prada became one of the most influential fashion houses. The house is led by Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons.
