Puiforcat

Parisian silver firm that became world-famous for Jean Puiforcat’s smooth, geometric Art Deco silver of the 1920s and 30s.

Puiforcat dates its beginnings to a silver workshop in Paris in the 1820s. The firm bought other workshops and models and made cutlery, services and objects in classical styles.

Jean Puiforcat, a silversmith and sculptor, designed silver with smooth surfaces and geometric forms in the 1920s and 30s, often with handles of wood, ivory or crystal. Puiforcat is now part of Hermès.

The firm’s maker’s mark beside the French Minerva mark for sterling.
