Rasch

German wallpaper factory in Bramsche which from 1929 printed the Bauhaus wallpapers, one of the school’s greatest commercial successes.

Rasch was founded in Bramsche in Lower Saxony and made wallpaper. Emil Rasch saw the opportunity to work with the Bauhaus, and in 1929 the first Bauhaus wallpapers came out, with fine textures in a single colour.

The wallpapers were cheap and discreet and a great commercial success for both the factory and the school. Rasch still makes wallpaper in Bramsche and has issued new editions of the Bauhaus patterns.

Printed Bauhaus-Tapete and pattern number on the roll labels.
