Salviati
Venetian glass firm, founded by the lawyer Antonio Salviati, which revived Murano glass and mosaic in the 19th century.
Antonio Salviati was a lawyer from Vicenza who set out to revive Murano's glass industry, which had declined. He started a workshop for mosaic and then for blown glass with glassblowers from Murano.
Salviati made mosaics for churches and palaces in Europe, among them Westminster Abbey, and glass after Venetian Renaissance models. The firm has since worked with contemporary designers.
