Siemens
Founded in Berlin by Werner von Siemens and Johann Georg Halske to build pointer telegraphs; later everything from power stations to household appliances.
Werner von Siemens and Johann Georg Halske started the Telegraphen-Bauanstalt von Siemens & Halske in Berlin. In 1866 Werner von Siemens discovered the dynamo-electric principle, which made it possible to generate electricity on a large scale.
Siemens built telegraph lines, power stations, tramways and electrical appliances and became one of the world's largest industrial groups. Its household appliances were long made together with Bosch.
