Staedtler

Pencil maker in Nuremberg, known for the Noris pencil with yellow and black stripes and the Mars range for draughtsmen.

Johann Sebastian Staedtler founded his pencil factory in Nuremberg, a city where pencil makers had worked since the 17th century. The company made pencils, coloured pencils and drawing materials.

The Mars Lumograph of 1930 became a standard among architects and draughtsmen. The Noris with its yellow and black stripes is the school pencil in many countries. Staedtler is owned by a foundation.

The name and the Mars head printed on the pencil; the grade at one end.
