Stephenson Blake
Type foundry in Sheffield, one of the last in Britain, which took over Caslon's foundry.
John Stephenson and James Blake bought a type foundry in Sheffield, and the firm grew by buying other foundries. In 1937 it took over H. W. Caslon & Co., which held William Caslon's punches.
Stephenson Blake issued typefaces such as Granby and Playbill and cast type long after most foundries had closed. The foundry ceased in 2004, and the punches are in museums.
