TAG Heuer
Founded as Heuer by Edouard Heuer in Saint-Imier; known for motor-racing chronographs such as the Carrera and Monaco. Became TAG Heuer in 1985.
Edouard Heuer started his workshop in Saint-Imier and patented a chronograph with an oscillating pinion. Heuer made stopwatches and instruments for cars and aircraft.
Jack Heuer launched the Carrera in 1963 and the Monaco in 1969, and Steve McQueen wore the Monaco in the film Le Mans. The brand was bought by TAG in 1985 and became TAG Heuer; it is now part of LVMH.
Watches from before 1985 are signed Heuer only; reference numbers on the caseback.
