Vacheron Constantin

Founded in Geneva by Jean-Marc Vacheron; one of the oldest watchmakers in continuous operation. Known for thin movements and complications.

Jean-Marc Vacheron took on an apprentice in Geneva in 1755, and the business has continued ever since. François Constantin became a partner in 1819 and built up the exports.

The engineer Georges-Auguste Leschot mechanised production with machines that made interchangeable parts. The American 1921 with its tilted dial and the Overseas of 1996 are well-known models. The brand is part of Richemont.

Signature on dial, case and movement; the Geneva Seal on many movements; serial numbers can be verified in the firm’s archives.
