Versace
Gianni Versace’s house in Milan, known for strong colours, Baroque prints and the safety-pin dress (1994).
Gianni Versace grew up in Reggio Calabria, where his mother was a dressmaker, and opened his house in Milan in 1978. His clothes were sensual and colourful, with prints inspired by the Baroque and antiquity.
The safety-pin dress that Elizabeth Hurley wore in 1994 became iconic. After Gianni Versace's death in 1997 his sister Donatella took over. The house is now part of the Prada group.
