Wenger was founded in Delémont in the Jura and in 1893 became the second supplier of pocketknives to the Swiss army, after Victorinox. Wenger called its knife the genuine Swiss Army knife.

Victorinox bought Wenger in 2005, and the knives are now sold under the Victorinox name.
