Harry Beck

Draughtsman

English draughtsman who turned the Underground map into a diagram.

Harry Beck was working as a draughtsman for the London Underground when, in his spare time, he drew a new map in 1931.

The map was published in 1933 and has been the model for almost every metro map since.
