Raoul Dufy

Painter and textile designer

French painter who designed hundreds of textile patterns for Paul Poiret and the silk firm Bianchini-Férier.

Raoul Dufy began making woodblock prints on fabric for Paul Poiret in 1910 and then designed patterns for Bianchini-Férier of Lyon for nearly twenty years.

His cheerful, quickly drawn flowers, animals and beach scenes shaped French fashion textiles in the 1920s.
