Johannes Gutenberg
Printer
Goldsmith in Mainz who developed printing with movable metal type in Europe.
Johannes Gutenberg was trained in metalwork and in Strasbourg and Mainz developed a type mould, a printing press and an ink that adhered to metal. His exact year of birth is unknown.
Around 1455 his great Latin Bible was finished. The invention spread rapidly, and before 1500 there were printing shops in hundreds of European towns.
