French trunk maker and founder of the Louis Vuitton fashion house.
As a teenager Louis Vuitton walked from the Jura to Paris, where he was apprenticed to a trunk maker and packer.
He opened his own workshop in 1854 and made the flat trunk with waterproof canvas that made luggage modern.
