French carriage smith who began making velocipedes with pedals.

Pierre Michaux was a carriage smith in Paris who, with his sons, began making velocipedes with pedals on the front wheel in the 1860s.

Who first put pedals on the bicycle is disputed, but Michaux & Cie made the velocipede a series product.
