George E. Ohr

Potter

The ‘Mad Potter of Biloxi’, whose thin, twisted and crumpled pots anticipated abstract art.

George Ohr threw pots with paper-thin walls in Biloxi, Mississippi, which he then twisted, folded and crushed.

He sold almost nothing, and thousands of pots lay in crates for over fifty years before being discovered in the 1960s.
