Bicycles, enamel mugs and posters: standardised objects for a planned society.

After 1949 production was centrally planned. The Flying Pigeon bicycle from Tianjin, made from 1950, became one of the most common bicycles in the world. Enamel mugs, vacuum flasks and simple clothes were made in large series.

Propaganda posters with strong colours and clear messages were the most visible design of the time.
