Finnish design today

The classics live on, and new designers such as Harri Koskinen work with simplicity and material.

Kaj Franck reworked Kilta into Teema in 1981, a service still in production. Fiskars, Iittala and Arabia have been gathered in the same group, and Marimekko has become an international brand.

Harri Koskinen's Block lamp of 1996, a light bulb cast into a block of glass, made his name. Helsinki was World Design Capital in 2012, and Artek has promoted reuse by selling second-hand Aalto furniture.
