Art Nouveau
Nancy and Paris became centres of the new style, in glass, furniture, jewellery and posters.
Siegfried Bing's shop Maison de l'Art Nouveau gave the style its name in 1895. In Nancy Émile Gallé, Louis Majorelle and the Daum family gathered in the École de Nancy. In Paris Hector Guimard designed the metro entrances.
René Lalique made jewellery in enamel and glass, and the posters of Mucha and Toulouse-Lautrec filled the streets. The world's fair of 1900 was the style's high point.
