Swedish design today

IKEA's global reach, new design groups and a growing focus on sustainability and reuse.

IKEA has become the world's largest furniture company and made Swedish design known all over the world. IKEA PS of 1995 was an initiative featuring named designers. At the same time smaller companies and studios have made their names internationally.

The group Front, formed in 2003, has worked with experiments and stories, and many younger designers work with reuse, local materials and circular business models. Nationalmuseum and the Röhsska Museum show Swedish design in permanent displays.
