Bauhaus wallpapers

The Bauhaus's best-selling product: wallpapers with almost no pattern.

The Bauhaus wall-painting workshop developed the wallpapers, which the Rasch company began to produce in 1929. They were intended as a cheap alternative to painted walls.

The wallpapers became the school's greatest financial success and were sold long after the school had closed. They show how Bauhaus ideas of simple surfaces reached ordinary homes.

Materials: Paper

Manufacture: Printed by the wallpaper factory Gebr. Rasch.

Fine textures – dashes, dots, squares – instead of motifs.

Muted, uniform colours.

The wall should give light and calm, not compete with the room.
