Behrens-Schrift

Behrens-Schrift
Rudolf Dührkoop, Public domain

An angular, narrow type in which Behrens joined the rhythm of blackletter with the legibility of roman.

Behrens-Schrift shows Behrens’s path from Jugendstil to the austere style he later gave AEG. It was used in German books and magazines before the First World War. Proofs are in the Klingspor Museum.

Materials: Lead-alloy types

Manufacture: Drawn with straight pen strokes and angles and cast by Klingspor in Offenbach.

The angular, slanting terminals as from a broad pen.

The even, dark grey texture on the page.
