One of the best-selling wristwatches in the world: light, cheap, with a battery that lasts seven years.

Casio began making digital wristwatches in the 1970s, with the same technology as in pocket calculators. The F-91W of 1989 became a classic by being simple, cheap and almost impossible to break.

The watch shows how quartz technology made precision free. Its design has barely changed in more than thirty years.

Materials: Plastic, LCD display, quartz movement

Manufacture: Made by Casio in huge numbers since 1989.

The rectangular black plastic case.

Three buttons for light, alarm and mode.

The module number 593 on the caseback.

The watch has a stopwatch, an alarm and a small light. The battery lasts for about seven years, and the watch is built from few parts so that it can be made cheaply in large series.

A black plastic case and plastic strap, a small rectangular display with the text ALARM CHRONOGRAPH above it and three buttons on the sides.
