Folies-Bergère: La Loïe Fuller
The dancer Loïe Fuller in swirling silk veils on a poster by Jules Chéret.
Loïe Fuller was an American dancer who performed at the Folies-Bergère in Paris with large silk cloths that she swirled around with sticks. Chéret made the poster of her dance.
He catches the movement with fields of colour that flow into each other, without a hard outline. The style became a model for Art Nouveau posters.
