Dresser’s toast rack

A toast rack of straight metal rods on spiky feet – a form that looks 50 years ahead of its time.
Dresser designed industrial household goods with minimal use of material. His toast racks are often compared with Bauhaus design. Examples are in the Victoria and Albert Museum and the Metropolitan Museum.
Materials: Electroplated nickel silver or brass
Manufacture: Made by Hukin & Heath and James Dixon of Sheffield; the rods soldered into a simple frame.
The straight vertical rods with no decoration.
The small spiky feet lifting the frame off the table.
